Manual Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, Dallas, Texas

A precise manual massage technique that includes repetitive, circular, rhythmic, very gentle movements of the skin, lymphatic massage in Dallas, Texas based Flower Road speeds blood flow and encourages lymph vessel contraction, which serves to move away waste that is too abundant for the venous system. The practice is used on patients who have undergone cosmetic surgery as it can ease swelling and inflammation. It has also been found to be effective on reducing swelling of the limbs of those affected by edema.

The practice of manual lymphatic drainage therapy, in Dallas, Texas or anywhere trained practitioners provide it, is unique to its practitioner, as with any massage method, and not all MLD therapists are alike. If you would like to discuss this method with Michelle and learn more about her expertise and recommendations for you, please contact Flower Road.

MLD is commonly recommended for:

  • Post-surgery swelling
  • Sports injuries that cause edema
  • Migraine headaches
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Dermal detoxification
  • Secondary Lymphedema
  • Severe stress

How MLD works:

The collector lymph vessels are responsible for conducting lymph from the lymph capillary network to the nodes, then ducts. Circular smooth muscle tissue makes up the walls of these collector lymph vessels and contraction of this tissue is a stretch-receptor reflex. This means that the vessel walls are stretched and then, due to nerve signals, they contract. MLD’s precise, repetitive movements target this stretching (thus contracting) of the collector lymph vessel walls, which in turn pushes lymph fluid forward.
