A hydrosol/hydrolat is the water that remains after producing an essential oil via steam or water distillation. There are many therapeutic benefits found in hydrosols because they hold the water-soluble properties of the plant distilled, often including small quantities of water soluble essential oil. Don't be fooled by 'floral waters', which are distilled water with essential oils. These therapeutic by-products of the distillation process are very safe to use on the very young, the very old and the very sick.
